Story
In April I am cutting off at least 7 inches of my hair in aid of Evelina London Children's Hospital. The hospital holds a special place in my heart for the fantastic care I received when I had an operation to correct my scoliosis (curvature of the spine). They provide a wide range of services for children and young adults and have been improving in the time that I have been privileged to be cared for there: I want to be able to help them become even better.
I have been thinking about interesting ways fundraising for them for over 3 years, and when I decided that I needed a haircut I thought I would go a but more extreme than normal. As a child I always wanted long hair but was never able to grow it more than just below my shoulders. Now I care for my hair myself I have long hair that I don't really do much with and, although I love my hair, it needs a cut and I thought it would be far more useful to be used to help children who face hair loss in making wigs - the hair will therefore be donated to the Little Princess Trust. I had a lot of hair related operation stress as well, so it seemed relevant to be finally saying goodbye to the majority of my hair.
