Hello, my name is Beth and on Monday 27^th February 2023 I signed up to an amazing (slightly crazy) adventure! In just over year, I will be trekking through five major ecological climate zones whilst climbing the world’s tallest free-standing mountain in Tanzania, East Africa - Mount Kilimanjaro. I will be trekking for Overgate Hospice and I would love to raise £2024 and more for this amazing charity. For anyone that knows me, you’ll know that hiking isn’t something I’d normally be doing! I will be climbing up to the 19,341ft summit over 6 days from the 20^th June 2024.

I joined Overgate Hospice as Graphic Designer in 2020 and I can honestly say that every day walking through the hospice reception doors - I have been greeted by the kindest, friendliest, most caring people I have ever met. Just to witness the care that the staff provide patients, their loved ones and supporters is truly heart-warming and it’s a pleasure to work for such an amazing charity. I am taking on this challenge for Overgate as a thank you and to give something back to my local community. It is likely that one day (you never know when), myself or my loved ones may need to access Overgate’s services and I would like to contribute to help keep the Hospice doors open! The Hospice isn’t just a building, it’s 14 charity shops with over 700 volunteers, it’s a home to a dedicated fundraising team raising money at our community’s favourite events like the annual Colour Run & Midnight Walk, it’s 24/7 expert nursing and medical care, and it’s a place of love when people need it the most. I would be daft not to support Calderdale’s exceptional charity.

So yeah, that’s why I am taking on the hardest challenge
