Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Myself, Emily Jackson, Grace Turver and Harriet Belk are raising money for the Maternity bereavement suite appeal at Scunthorpe General Hospital. Please take your time to read why this is such a worthy cause to donate to.

We know that nothing will ever take away the pain of giving birth to a still born baby, or giving birth to a baby who only has a few hours to live, but imagine the utter distress a family in this situation will feel if they are returned to a ward where new mothers and fathers are celebrating the birth of their healthy babies. This is currently what happens at Scunthorpe General Hospital. Please help us to provide a Bereavement Suite within the Central Delivery Suite at the Hospital. This Suite will provide a safe haven for mothers who have just given birth to a still born baby or mothers who have only a few hours to spend with their newborn child before it passes away. It will be a place where the family can spend time together too. A place which is still within the Central Delivery Suite so as to be able to take full advantage of the medical team but far enough away from all of the healthy newborn babies in order to try to minimise the distress of the bereaved family. Please spare a few minutes to watch our appeal video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODyrm5SLqgU Thank you
