'' why do you have to shave your hair off!? Aren't you scared!? Can't you just go a charity run or walk!?'' No. Well I could but I knew walking or running wouldn't give me the attention or support I need to make people read this and understand how important it is to donate to such an amazing charity.
When and why I'm shaving my hair off....
So today has been World Mental Health day and although this is something I have wanted to do and spoke a lot about I now think it's the right time, seeing everyone be so kind and supportive with each other all over social media has made me proud of humanity. I am raising money for the charity 'MIND' a mental health charity that means a lot to my close family and friends.
Mental health isn't something anyone should feel ashamed or scared talking about, i didn't talking about what I personally went through as a teenager because I wasn't aware that it was perfectly okay to admit not feeling okay. As well as making people aware that there is organisations out there that can help and that you don't need to suffer in silence and the importance of talking I want to raise a huge amount of money so charity's like this so they can carry on growing and carry on making that huge difference in people's lives.
I first fully realised how imprortant mental health organsisations are was when someone who means the world to me went from a healthy weight, full of life, funny as hell, life and soul of the party person to a weak, fragile, frail, depressed being, that wouldn't eat no matter how much anyone begged, the illness had got a hold and she ended up being hospitalised, if it hadn't been for the amazing mental health service and organisations we have, I honestly think I would have lost her for good. I can't thank them enough for not letting the illness win.
I would do anything to raise this money and that is why my hair is coming off!! As soon as I reach £600 in donations I will be shaving my hair off on a live feed in the de lacy salon in Beverley that I work in. Also a donation from every cut and blowdry done in the salon will also going to mind. Please please start donating and get behind mental health!!
