In 2004 at the age of 9 my younger sister Carys was diagnosed with meninigitis which was understandably a great to shock to both myself and my family. She was very ill for a few days and despite a visit to the doctors none of us were aware she had it. Luckily my parents took her to the hospital and there she received great treatment and she had a very speedy recovery. She is now healthy and happy and is a pain in the bum like every younger sister should be!

I am running the half marathon as it will be a challenge but more importantly to increase awareness of meningitis to help others to identify the symptoms and get early treatment. We were incredibly lucky in that Carys had a quick recovery and so I want to give help to Menigitis Now who give support to so many others who aren't as lucky.
