Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am fundraising for Balloon Ventures, a charity that works with the Foreign Office supported International Citizens Service. I have been lucky enough to be selected to go and help them out on their programme in Kenya. As such, I will be travelling to Kenya in May to work with this scheme and help develop sustainable businesses.
The first part of my placement is raise £800, to assist with the support of future sustainable projects that are run by Balloon ventures and it's ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS, ensuring they can to continue sending youth volunteers to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities, in projects
supporting healthcare and hygiene abroad to promoting sustainable ways for poor people to protect themselves against climate change.
Balloon Venture works on the principle of teaching a man to fish, rather than giving him food. Balloon wants to create a sustainable and long term solution to people's poverty. This means that Balloon trains and empowers entrepreneurs who have asked to be included on the program to set up and develop businesses in their communities in order to have their own independent income and to avoid being reliant on charity handouts. Through doing this Balloon has helped entrepreneurs to set up schools, tailoring businesses and even cyber cafes, giving people access to education, goods and global access in a self-sufficient way.
Please help me to raise the money to get there!
