We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

I see the effects of Alzheimers and other forms of dementia all the time in my job as a carer, and it's a condition that has touched my family too. The loss of a person's sense of self, and the unravelling of their memories and identities is heart-breaking for the sufferer and everyone who loves and cares for them.

My job has showed me that there is so much more that can be done for people in their final years to support them in living with dignity and comfort. There are still moments of joy, friendship and companionship, and those should be encouraged, and treasured.

I love my job, but I often wish there was more I could do, so I suppose this is my attempt to do just a little more!

I chose the colour blue for my hair because it is the colour of my uniform, and a nod to the name of the company I work for.

And before anyone asks, yes my boss knows I want to dye my hair blue to raise money and she is completely on board!

Also, I stole this idea from Stevin, who is dying his hair green! If you can afford to sponsor us both, awesome!

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
