Story
My sister, Lorraine Winmill, started fund raising for Bloodwise in 2008 in memory of her daughter Beth Winmill who was taken from us suddenly at the age of only 16 in October 2007 from Acute Myloid Leukaemia.
In the summer of 2008 we organised a Forget Me Not walk in Beth's memory and had over 150 family and friends join us for a great walk along Chalkwell seafront and we raised over £8,000. The walk was so successful that we organised another walk in the summer of 2009.
Sadly in January 2010 we also lost my sister Lorraine from skin cancer.
We wanted to keep up the fund raising that Lorraine started and organised a further successful walk in the summer of 2010.
As of January 2018 we have raised over £35,000 donated to the registered charity Bloodwise (formerly Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research) and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped raise this amazing amount of money, through sponsorship, holding events, donations instead of wedding gifts and in memory of loved ones and donations from charity groups and Beth's teachers. We are extremely grateful to everyone who has contributed.
Beth and Lorraine were both full of fun and brought so much happiness to so many people. They are greatly missed by family and friends and we hope that by raising funds for such a worthy cause we can help make a difference.
In 1960, barely 1 in 10 children survived the most common form of childhood cancer - acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Thanks to research nearly 8 in 10 children now survive.
We continue to fund raise and we hope to reach our target of £40,000 by 2025.
Thank you from all of Beth and Lorraine's family xxxx
