Story
Throughout March, we (Beth and Mike) are taking part in the 'Barking Mad Big March' challenge for Barking Mad Dog Rescue (BMDR). We have pledged to walk or run 500 miles between us over the course of the month (an average of just over 8 miles each a day). Only half as far as the Proclaimers pledged to walk, but maybe they allowed themselves more than a month, and we don't intend to fall down at anyone's door at the end.
Our miles contribute towards the 2000 mile distance between the BMDR shelter in Nisipari, Romania, and the UK base in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The aim is for BMDR supporters collectively to virtually walk the whole distance from shelter to shelter, and in doing so raise much needed funds for BMDR.
We will use Google Fit to record how far we cover on foot during the month, and will post regular updates on our Facebook pages so you can see our progress.
BMDR is a UK-based charity set up to provide food, veterinary support and care for abandoned dogs in Romania before finding them suitable homes in the UK and Germany. With several hundred dogs to feed on a daily basis and so many dogs needing veterinary attention, fundraising is ongoing and essential. It has been a strain during the pandemic, so any amount you can give is so appreciated. Thank you.
