Fundraising for FareShare
Story
This Christmas we're working with the UK’s biggest charity fighting hunger and food waste, FareShare, to ensure that the equivalent of 20,000 meals will be provided to vulnerable people at risk of hunger.
Here at BerryWorld, we believe that it’s really important to do what we do in a sustainable way whilst ensuring our berries are delicious and nutritious. We like to think we provide sustainalicious berries.
You will have seen our support for FareShare if you have purchased one of our FareShare labelled packs. Now, we are encouraging our customers to support them as well, so you can enjoy your berries knowing you're helping those in need too.
Why supporting FareShare is important
When the pandemic hit this year we saw an opportunity to support vulnerable families in the UK, it was then that we reached out to FareShare to offer our support.
So far, we have worked with FareShare to donate over 110 tonnes of surplus berries - which contributes towards the equivalent of over 261,100 meals for people who might not otherwise eat - in our efforts to share the goodness.
This food comes at a crucial time for the charity, as demand for FareShare’s service has more than doubled since lockdown measures were first introduced in March.
This Christmas we're sharing more of the goodness by donating £5,000, the equivalent of 20,000 meals, to vulnerable people via FareShare.
