Bernadette's Walking For Mental Health

Walking For Mental Health ยท 1 October 2022
The Cellar Trust supports people struggling with their mental health, across the Bradford district to move forward in their recovery and live independent, fulfilling lives. We exist because mental health problems exist and because they are complex. We all have mental health and our state of health can change at any time. Mental health problems affect everyone in a different way and they can be devastating. Our purpose is to support people when they face these challenges, and to empower them to move forward.

I am doing this challenge not only for myself but in the hopes of raising money for the mental health charity ๐ป๐๐ ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐! Mental health is something that so many of us battle with, I myself have really struggled over the last 7 months & still find days hard now!
Itโs not easy when your going through a dark time to talk about it & ๐ป๐๐ ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐ really helped me at the beginning of my journey, offering me support and someone to talk tooโฆwe are all different but I found it very difficult to talk to my family and friends about what I was feeling and going through! So for me talking to a stranger really helped because I could just be totally honest and not worry about being judged! They also put me into contact with another counselling service that I then continued with for 4 1/2 months!
I want to raise awareness because I do feel that mental health still isnโt talked about or understood enough and people still feel ashamed or embarrassed that they are going through a tough time, so bottle it all inside! I think there are people out there who believe mental health isn't a real thing and that makes it harder for people to talk and open up and that needs to change!
You never truly know what someone is going through so remember to always be kind, be the person who makes others smile, cheer for your friends and family when they achieve something & be happy for them! They might really need that smile, that pat on the back, that well done!
