Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In November 2009 my Mum Angela was diagnosed with terminal cancer. At the time of my Mum's diagnosis I was 3000 miles away in New York and unable to be with my family. Luckily Macmillan Cancer Support were there to give my Mum and my family the advice, information, and moral support they needed, making sure they knew what treatment was available, what financial aid she may be entitled to, to the centre's she could go for respite where she would be able to talk freely to nurses and other cancer patients about her treatment, symptoms, fears, and hopes.
My brother Gerard and I are both running in the Marathon but as neither of us has even entered a 5K before it makes our entry to the Marathon more of a challenge - And even more reason for you to show your generosity by sponsoring us! We need all the help and encouragement we can get which is why I am asking you for your money and support to help me (and Gerard) make it to the end, and to help ensure Macmillan Cancer Support continues to be able to give the much needed support to the thousands of families affected by cancer every day in the UK.
This is how your money can help:
- £10 could pay for 20 copies of The Cancer Guide. This Macmillan booklet can help someone recently diagnosed with cancer, and their families, understand cancer, it's treatment and the help available
- £24 could pay for a Macmillan physiotherapist for an hour
- £68 could run a typical small Macmillan information and support centre for an hour
- £100 could enable the Macmillan benefits helpline help people affected by cancer to claim £2.691 in benefits to which they are entitled
- £156 Could run the Macmillan Cancerline for an hour
- £350 could pay for a convalescent break for someone with cancer or their carer
- £918 could fund a Macmillan nurse for a working week
