Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Sue Hull and Tom Palmer will both be running the Great North Run 2019 for our Charity of the Year, Rainbows. They have both explained why they chose to take part in this years run below:
Sue Hull: As soon as I attended a presentation from Rainbows Hospice, I knew I wanted to do something significant to raise much needed funds for this wonderful charity. After completing a half marathon in 2015, I had “fallen out of love” with running and wanted to find a reason to improve my fitness levels and get back into it. There’s no better reason than to support Rainbows and raise awareness of the fantastic work that they do. I am really looking forward to the amazing atmosphere on the day and I am sure that this will keep me going, as long as I keep on top of my training!
Tom Palmer: After hearing exactly what Rainbows do for sick children and their families, I thought to myself I want to do something to raise money and awareness. I have been an avid runner since I was young, however I have lost a bit of enthusiasm over the past couple of years. The Great North Run is the perfect challenge for me personally to get back in to running some good times…whilst doing it for a fantastic charity. I have never ran a half marathon and I couldn’t think of a better charity to do my first one in aid of.
