Story
This has a personal touch for us as and for many, many more people in the world. An ageing population in the country is now highlighting a rapidly growing number of people living with dementia. Yet another cruel illness which takes many forms and can strike at a very young age. It is crippling and can render and otherwise healthy person captive for years! Mike's mother in Law, Marguerite is suffering this awful disease and seeing it happen over time is heart breaking for the loved ones caring for her. She remains strong and resolute but ultimately trapped and severely limited by her illness . Lee's gran, Margaret also suffered from dementia.
One thing this lockdown has taught is that we are good at walking and talking utter rubbish over a few beers. We have discovered some wonderful walks around Pinkney's green/Cox green/Shottesbrooke and Cookham Dean and thankful for that alone during the pandemic. It has helped a huge amount to keep us sane during a tough year.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever .Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
Please give as generously as you can, as all we are doing is the small walking part and the money raised is the key to tackling this illness,
