Story
7 years ago I was taken into hospital as my life was spiralling out of control. Aged 14 I weighed just 29 kilograms (under 5 stone) and my weight wouldn't stop dropping. Day by day I was wasting away and didn't know what was wrong, other than I was petrified of eating food. It reached a point where I wrote every calorie I had eaten during a day into a book, would take hours to eat a meal and did exercise constantly to ensure I burnt anything I ate away.
But being diagnosed with an eating disorder (anorexia) was not what I ever expected since it was an illness I only associated with 'skinny girls'. Despite some incredibly tough years, I'm proud to say that thanks to my incredible family and friends I have fully recovered and am finally free from it's grasp.
What I am even more excited for, (and why this page has been created) is that I am taking part in the 2022 London Marathon (delayed from 2020 because of COVID), through the charity Beat! Any money that it is possible for you to give would be an incredible blessing as you really are saving and changing people's lives forever. I am no longer afraid to say I had an eating disorder and I can't wait to break the stigma around the subject, especially for men.
Hopefully this money can go towards specifically educating young athletes towards the importance of correct nutrition to maximise performance and the dangers/effects of under fuelling.
