Story

The South Downs Way

Benji aged 7 (and mum :) are going to walk the South Downs way this Summer to raise money for 4 amazing charities!

It’s a really big challenge because the South Downs way is 160km all the way from Winchester to Eastbourne and covers most of the highest points in the South Downs! It’s a long way for a 7-year-old, (and I suspect even longer for a mum recovering from long covid) so we’re really hoping that we’ll be able to do it! We’re going to complete it over the next four weeks or so, taking rest days in between.

We live in the middle of the South Downs, and Benji loves this landscape so it was his idea to do this walk!

Reserva

Benji is so proud to be part of the Youth Council for Reserva. It’s an incredible project, started by Callie Broadus to create the world’s first entirely youth-funded nature reserve in the Choco Rainforest of Ecuador. They’re partnered with the rainforest Trust who match all donations.

The Rainforest Trust UK are running a brilliant campaign this summer to hug 100 trees for the rainforest. So we’ll be donating to Reserva through the Rainforest Trust!

I am going to hug 100 trees this summer to raise money for Rainforest Trust UK. 100% of every donation will be used to protect our planet's most threatened rainforests, helping to save endangered species and fight climate change. All donations will also be matched 1:1, doubling your impact for the planet. So please support my tree-hugging efforts by making a donation today!Rainforests store billions of tonnes of carbon, protecting our planet from the impacts of climate change. They also provide vital habitat for half the world's species, many of which are endangered. However, they are being cut down at a rate of 70,000 acres a day100% of the money raised will go to the Rainforest Climate Action Fund, supporting projects which cost-effectively store and sequester vast quantities of carbon. Raising money for this fund may be the most efficient way to fight climate change, so please donate if you can. Also please share my fundraising page with your friends and family!
