Green Park Challenge · 21 March 2010
I ran the Green Park Challenge in Reading on Sunday 21st March. It's a 2.8km race finishing in the Madejski Stadium. I was hoping to smash my time from last year of 18 minutes and 13 seconds and had a target time of 16 minutes. Well, I did even better than my target and finished in 13 minutes and 5 seconds! And I was the first 8 year old to finish! So I'm very pleased with my performance. Daddy nearly managed to stay with me and was only 7 seconds behind me.
The charity I am trying to raise money for is Macmillan Cancer Support. The reason I chose this charity was because of our friend, John Pearce, who used to work with Mummy, who was diagnosed with cancer last summer. He said the Macmillan nurses do a wonderful job of helping people like him, and their families, while they are sick with cancer and asked if we could raise some money for them.
Very sadly, John lost his fight against cancer and died in a hospice on the morning that I did my run. He knew that I was doing the run for Macmillan and was very pleased that I was raising so much money.
