Story
Hi everyone,
I am so grateful to be running the 2024 London Marathon for Maggie's - The Royal Marsden. It is something I have been wanting to do for a while. My family has had a constant and ongoing struggle against cancer, like many others have. Two years ago, Dad was treated at the Royal Marsden. The quality of healthcare and support that Dad had, helped him to fight it and make it through. More recently, Mum has just been diagnosed with cancer. Knowing her, she will fight it off, but it is just a reminder of how quickly it can strike anyone at any given time. I am so thankful to Maggie's for giving me the opportunity to help others receive the quality of support that my Dad did.
That being said, running is not exactly my strong suit. I distinctly remember having to stop (struggling for breath and wheezing for a strong period of time) after 1km, attempting a classic workout routine at the beginning of the first lockdown.
To prepare for the marathon I will be on a strict training routine so please support me through it as I will definitely need it. Massive thanks to all of you in advance - I'll be sending updates throughout my journey (because it really will be a long journey for me). It really is such a wonderful charity and I am so excited to run for them.
