Every three seconds, someone is diagnosed with dementia. It is the second-biggest killer of Australians. It is not a normal part of ageing and the impact of this slow degenerative disease is heart-breaking. Our thoughts, our memories, our ability to comprehend and engage with the world around us are precious; they make us who we are. Dementia gradually wears these away. There are 472,000 Australians living with dementia and a further 1.6 million involved in their care. Currently there is no cure, no treatment to slow its progression, and an incomplete understanding of what causes the disease. But research into dementia is gathering pace and UQ's Queensland Brain Institute is leading the global hunt for a cure.
By fundraising for QBI's dementia research you will help our team of researchers continue the fight against dementia. Thank you for spreading the word with your family and friends. All donations, large or small, help make a difference. Thank you.
