Story
This summer, a group of young people from the UK will travel to Durban, South Africa to take part in a leadership challenge that will engage, inspire, and equip them to make the most of their potential.
Being based in South Africa, young people are pushed beyond their comfort zones, being challenged to achieve things they never thought possible. Building on the pilot from summer 2012, the vision of South Africa Challenge 2013 is to create a financially sustainable scheme that will increase the impact of partner programmes in South Africa that are transforming lives.
This project will provide a full-on, hands-on, engaging opportunity for young emerging leaders to develop core leadership and life skills by challenging them and empowering them to run projects, develop cross-cultural partnerships, and challenge their own stereotypes.
ProjectLEARN will involve the running of workshops that will help the people of Durban, South Africa to become confident learners, develop their understanding of their own unique learning styles and how best to cope with academic learning.
Aiming to take out 10 computers, the South Africa Challenge 2013 group hopes to network these in order to support the centre in the future.
Finally, the team aims to launch an online project that will sell products sourced from the programme, including a unique SA Challenge LookBook, as well as developing their waste management systems to ensure a cleaner community.
