Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For those who don't know, my Mum was officially diagnosed with vascular dementia in October 2020 at the age of 62.
It was clear 3/4 years back that the early signs were there then it became more apparent in March 2020. Since then she has deteriorated rapidly and had to be placed into care in July 2021 as I couldn't meet her needs anymore. With the premature birth of my girls, I couldn't commit the time needed to ultimately keep her safe.
So my friends and I are aiming to complete the National 3 Peaks on the weekend of 28th & 29th May in an attempt to raise money to help Dementia UK in the research they carry out. I'm also hoping it will help those who have loved ones suffering with dementia to speak out as I know how extremely heartbreaking it is to lose a loved one, over and over again. When you notice things aren't right; when your loved one gets an official diagnosis; when they forget your name for the first time; when they say they don't know who you are and when they become angry or violent with you; are all heartbreaking moments that I have been through with my Mum.
Any donation that you could help with will hopefully make a huge difference towards a brighter future for people with dementia.
