Story
I have run the London Marathon for Saint Francis Hospice twice before, over 10 years ago, raising a good amount of money. However, I was supposed to run it a 3rd time 9 years ago but had to pull out due to injury so I feel that I have some unfinished business on behalf of Saint Francis Hospice.
It goes without saying the fantastic work that Saint Francis Hospice does for people in our community at what without question is the toughest time for a family.
When I last visited Saint Francis Hospice to see first hand the incredible care that they give I came away feeling amazed by the work that is done but also a little detached as I had never lost a loved one.
Since that time I lost my dad due to a long illness in 2020. Times were different in 2020, and while hospice care wasn't an option that my parents could or would have considered during lockdown, the whole situation made me reflect on my visit to Saint Francis Hospice.
The care that is given to the patients and their families by volunteers and carers from treatment, to comfort and counselling is invaluable and I think those in our community who have benefitted from the help of Saint Francis Hospice know how fortunate they have been.
We all need to support Saint Francis Hospice to enable them to continue to give this amazing and care to people in real need.
I'll do the hard bit and run 26.2 miles. You please do the easy bit and contribute to my fundraising target.
