Story
Hello! Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Ben Hunter, I'm 17 years old and in my final year at Turriff Academy currently studying English, Drama, Art and Music. I recently applied to and took part in a 5 day selection course on the Hebridean 'Isle of Coll' for a year abroad with Project Trust. A week later I received notice that I had been selected for a life-changing 12 months volunteering abroad in Uganda.
Project Trust is a gap year organisation that selects, trains and sends 17-19 year old new school leavers to one of over 25 different countries in Asia, The Americas or Africa. Since 1967 PT has sent over 5,500 volunteers to work abroad. Whilst in their chosen country, volunteers get the opportunity to live in a completely new community and experience a completely different culture, whilst carrying out a project that helps that community.
A little about my country - Uganda is in East Africa, bordered by Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zaire and Sudan. Straddling the equator, the country itself is very lush and green. The country has many problems such as a high incidence of HIV/AIDS, political unrest in the north and east, and rebels on the Rwandan border, but an optimistic and pragmatic approach has put Uganda and its leaders in a favourable light to the outside world. In Uganda I will likely be teaching underprivileged primary school children. I will be leaving for Uganda in August 2010, but before that I have to raise a total of £4,850!
To Raise this money I will be doing a sponsored event, coffee mornings, a ceilidh and many more fundraising activities. Any donation, large or small, would be greatly appreciated. All donations will go directly to Project Trust and help me reach my goal. Thanks for your help!

Yours,
Ben Hunter
