London Landmarks Half Marathon 2023 · 2 April 2023 ·
In April 2023, I will be taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon and raising money for JDRF.
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when I was just 8 years old. 22 years on and I feel now it’s an appropriate time to start giving and help this brilliant charity with their research to cure, treat and prevent Type 1 Diabetes.
JDRF is the world’s leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research. Globally, JDRF has invested £1 billion in funding critical research to improve the lives of myself and others living with the condition.
JDRF funds people researching prevention, treatment, causes and cure for type 1 diabetes. JDRF is the largest voluntary health organisation in the world, currently funding over 20 research projects in the UK alone.
400,000 people in the UK live with type 1. It’s unpreventable and at present, there is no cure. With type 1, your pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone the body needs to get energy from food. This means a process your body should do automatically becomes something that now requires your manual intervention and daily attention. With type 1, you must constantly monitor your blood-sugar level, inject or deliver insulin through a pump, and carefully balance insulin doses with your eating and activity throughout the day and night.
Thank you in advance for donating, it really will make a massive difference to myself and others living with type 1 diabetes now and in the future.
Heres to accelerating life -changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat Type 1 Diabetes 🙌🏻.
