At 5:15am on Friday 31/Mar/2023.  I will be cycling from Manchester to abersoch dressed as Eliot with E.T in my bike basket! In memory of my Grandad Len Morris 🛸

The aim is to raise as much money as possible for ST.Anne’s hospice for all the care they gave my grandad and millions of people, this charity funded team help.

These patients, nurses and doctors go through so much I feel it’s only fair that I raise the stakes for this bike ride.

So, to make things difficult, I will be riding a £20, 20inch wheel, 1970’s, 17kg, 3 speed Raleigh shopper for 189km up 2150m of elevation  👽

To make it to Abersoch efficiently. I have assembled a cycling team to help with drafting, pacing, mental and mechanical support.

Please see below ⬇️

MEET THE CYCLING TEAM

Firstly, the most important people/dependable’s for this bike ride in no particular order

1. The general manager/ support vehicle. James Morris acting as a one man band providing technical support (probably booking scran for the Friday night based on our pace when he’s not watching Netflix), weather forecasting, carrying scran, fluids, spare bikes, tools and spare clothes/parts. This bike ride would not be happening with out him supporting us.

2. Support vehicle 2/domestique for the final 30km of the ride. Holly Griffiths will be driving my pope mobile (still refusing to accept this reality) to the finish line carrying the riders luggage to the house. She will then be meeting us to cycle the final 30km of the bike ride to provide some much needed pacing.

3. The team committee. Zoe. Paving the way by allowing us to go on much needed training rides and cycle to abersoch whilst heavily pregnant with a nipper running around. (Lennon is also on this acting as health and safety advisor making sure that everyone gets home safely)

4. Simon Richardson. Originally, he Intended on cycling with us but following a collision with a barb wire fence has found himself side lined with a shoulder injury! He will now be acting a support vehicle  #3 by meeting us at checkpoints for encouragement and also carrying large quantities of alcohol (encouragement)

MEET THE RIDERS ⬇️

A. Tom (the wall) herring. Big lad, big power = big slip stream for riders to hide behind and shelter from the elements (sorry pal)

B. Ross Harding  (The Newt King). The much needed diesel power in the group. The beating heart of the peloton ensuring that mpg remain high and the team make it to our destination efficiently.

C. Ian Hay.  Undoubtedly the Tom Pidcock of the group. A Mountain goat that loves a hill climb paired with unrivalled multi-disciplined bike handling skills. Will most likely be seen making a mockery out of everyone on the descents.

D. Me (Ben griffiths): Elliot & ET. Aka the kid that ate worms in school 🖖🏼👽👾

Last but (absolutely) not least ⬇️

The driving force behind this ride. The soul reason for assembly of this team. Acting as our very own Sir Jim Ratcliffe from high up in the sky by whipping everyone into shape and ensuring every penny donated is earned through hard work, sweat and tears. The donny of all dons… Len Morris ✈️❤️

All maintenance and repairs carried out by Darren, the bike wizard, at The Tiny Bike Shop (Urmston)

Thank you so much for all of your donations and support. I can’t tell you how much this means!

Following the prospect of this ride being promoted of BBC radio Manchester and the Manchester Evening News, I have raised my target from £2000 to £3500

Don’t  shoot, don’t score 😉👽🛸
