Story
I was due to run the Chester Marathon this weekend, but it’s been cancelled due to the pandemic.
So instead I’m going to run 26.2 miles around the Arboretum Lake (about 27 laps) in my local park in Walsall to raise money for a great client of mine and a great charity the Refugee Support Network.
RSN have recently bought a building for their new premises and are raising funds to turn it into a fantastic facility to work with the young refugees coming into the UK to learn and pursue their dreams.
RSN are in the process of transforming the disused bank in the centre of Harlesden into a permanent home for their work with young refugees, and a unique social impact hub for the local community. This unique refugee education centre will increase their capacity and significantly enhance the work they do with young people. The project is in partnership with a local church, Community Church Harlesden, and a social enterprise, Jigsaw Consult. In the midst of a vibrant and deprived area of London, they want to create a space where lives can be changed and both local and global social impact projects can thrive.
You can learn more about RSN and the building project on the Just Giving Page or at http://www.refugeesupportnetwork.org/building.
I’d be so grateful if you could support financially, join me for a lap, cycle by my side, or cheer me on!
I’ll be running on Friday 2nd October from 10am – 1:40pm (approx.) and starting from the Arboretum café picnic benches.
PLEASE OBSERVE SOCIAL DISTANCING IF YOU COME DOWN.
