Story
I went on a cycling holiday to the Lake District in 2021 and on my last day I decided to fuel up on the biggest full English breakfast you can imagine! When driving to the cafe I noticed a man crying on a bench and I said to myself, if he is still there when I've parked and walked back to him, I will sit with him. He was and so I crouched next to him and asked if he'd like a quick chat. His name was Mikey, he was my age, he was Polish, he was a skilled barista and loved to serve people, his English was great and he took pride in his shoes, despite being worn with holes. We spoke for 30 minutes and it became the highlight of my holiday. I gave him money for a full English of his own before I spoke with a nearby cafe to say there's a barista out of work outside.
I've always been affected by seeing homeless and have often joked that I may find myself homeless one day, because I'm fairly bold-thinking in business. CEO Sleepout is my chance to experience homelessness first hand and hopefully raise some money.
