Story
I'm rowing 250 km by Christmas Day on a Concept 2 indoor machine. This is the equivalent of Canada to the North Pole for Sarcoidosis UK!
Sarcoidosis is an auto immune condition that causes inflammation of tissue in any part of the body. This tissue forms hard lumps called granulomas. These can cause organs not to function. Those diagnosed can suffer anything from breathing difficulties; sight loss and even heart failure. Another common symptom is extreme fatigue. However everyone is affected differently leading to sarcoidosis being called the "snow flake" disease. The treatment lowers people's immune symptoms making them very vulnerable to severe Covid. This has meant sufferers having to shield for the last 18 months. Sarcoidosis UK has provided vital support during this time.
The challenge started on the 13th of November and finishes on Christmas Day. So far I have completed 90 km.
Sarcoidosis UK is a small charity that receives no government funding. Thanks Boris!! It is dedicated to funding at least one major piece of research per year, and will continue to do this until a cure is found. Please donate - we rely on your support to keep going!
