Story
It goes without saying that the last 9 months have been a tough year for everyone but not as tough as people fighting cancer at this time. It’s hard to think of anything else but Covid right now but we can’t forget about the terrible effects Cancer continues to have on so many and will continue to do so long after the Covid pandemic is over.
The Covid crisis has been devastating to all aspects of life, including the ability for charities to continue their life changing research into understanding some of the most challenging cancers. It is estimated that charities throughout the UK will be cutting their researching funding by £310 million! They need us now more than ever.
As a bit of background as to why I'm doing this..
In 2019 a client and friend, Tom Makin sadly passed away from osteosarcoma. He was just 29 years old and left behind two daughters aged just 3 and 8 weeks old.
Last year I had the pleasure of helping to train some of Tom's friends and wife, to run the 2020 London marathon to raise money for Sarcoma UK.
Sarcoma is a rare cancer that develops in the muscle, bone and soft tissue and in most cases affect teenagers and young adults.
Sarcomas are notoriously difficult to treat and have poor survival statistics which is why Sarcoma UK is looking to increase the awareness of sarcoma and provide ground breaking research programmes to try and get to the bottom of this deadly disease.
If Team Tom can conquer the London marathon it’s my mission to run for 24hours aiming to cover a minimum of x4 marathons (over 104 miles)
I will be pushing the limit of my physical capabilities to complete this challenge and hope in return you may help raise vital funds for such a worthwhile cause!
The charity is facing delaying a number of vital research projects as a result of the Covid crisis which is just devastating to all those desperately searching to provide better outcomes for people such as Tom. It may be too late for my friend, but if we can help someone in the future then it has to be worth 24 hours of pain , right?!
If any businesses would like the opportunity to sponsor my running shirt (logo displayed on my running shirts) please contact me on directly on 07547553531.
Thank you
