London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·

Our goal is to identify and remove the barriers disabled people face in accessing sport and physical activity through projects, advise and influencing. We want to empower and inspire communities to be inclusive. We can work together to realise individual potential and aspirations.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Thanks to Richard (well to Rachel really), I have been given this amazing opportunity to run the London Marathon. As well as being a sporting legend, Richard has always been passionate about empowering disabled people and enabling them to achieve their potential. To that end he set up the Richard Whitehead foundation:

"At the Richard Whitehead Foundation we primarily work with disabled young people who are facing physical and emotional challenges. We help identify and remove barriers, whilst appreciating that disability remains centric to each individuals future and this has to be part of an aspirational understanding in reaching their full potential.`
We place an individual at the centre of our work, ensuring that they have the correct support and nurturing mechanisms which allows new concepts of rehabilitation through being active and participation. Let’s not forget that that this focus should be fun and full of dreams and smiles!"
