Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Andy ran the Race4Life4Men in Gloucester last year just a week after my Father died from Cancer and raised over £600. This year Ben (aged 17, and yes he is about 6 inches taller than me!) is joining me, so we are using this page to collect sponsorship for both of us.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Update - Saturday 21st August late afternoon
It's pouring with rain here in Gloucestershire, the mighty Robins have "lost beautifully" 4-6 at Rotherham, but the runners are ready and raring to go. I have just added £90 of Off-line donations which we have received and we have trounced our target and improved on last years support (which was the top money-raiser last year) - so a huge thanks to you all.
All it needs now is for us to achieve our targets in the run - Andy's is to finish in the top two of the Sawers competitiors in 25 minutes; Ben is going for 20 minutes (and presumably top spot in our little duel!!)
It's not too late to make a donation - the website stays open for donations until 22nd November, but thank you for all your support and the messages of support.
Update 26th August - well it has taken me a few days to recover from the run (how unfit am I?) but pleased to say that it is Mission Accomplished for both of us.
Admittedly, Andy did not achieve his time target of 25 minutes which was, on reflection, over ambitious but did achieve a respectable 28 1/2 minutes to end up about 70th out of 200 participants.
However, the real surprise was Ben, who with no training and no previous experience clocked 20 1/2 minutes to end up as the top Junior (under 18) and 4th place overall - and yes he had time to shower and change before Andy had finished!!
But the real sucess is that with online, offline and gift aid we have raised over £800 for Cancer Research UK in memory of Andy's Dad and Ben's Grandpa, Colin. So a big thank you to all of you who donated so generously and for the many messages of support.
THANK YOU
Andy and Ben Sawers
