I did it! I actually cycled for 47miles, canoed for 10miles and ran for 13miles, well, there was a bit of walking, but I did it! It took me 8hrs and 23mins but I'm happy to say that I wasn't the last across the line at any of the stages. I even went on to give a speech and could have danced the night away but my room mates were too sleepy and took me home before midnight. What a great time we all had, the weather was pretty good and the cameraderie amazing, but I'm never doing that amount of canoeing again, not nice! I can only thank the man who gave me the green Jelly Baby, the Royal Naval Reserves (one of them was at school with me!) and the organisers for making sure it all went well. And my family and friends.
So why did I agree to take part in this silly thing? Well there are a few reasons. Alcohol being the first. A challenge from my brother being the second (he's now not taking part, the sneaky git!) and the third and actually the most important reason, my mum and step-mum.
Two very wonderful women played a hugely important part in my life and now they're gone and the only thing I can do is to raise funds for a cause that will hopefully mean other people won't have to go through the same thing that my family and I have had to go through.
Please sponsor me and my family, if not for the cause, simply because we're so daft for taking part in the first place. I might add that Doug and I are the only ones who did the whole thing, the others cheated and did a part each!
Now for the official bit...
