St Ann's Hospice is a charity which cares for thousands of local people with cancer and non-cancer life-limiting illnesses every year.

Story

Everyone has their reasons for running. I started running after my mum sadly passed away to cancer also loosing my father-in-law, aunts and uncle and grandparents.. After my mum passed away  I put my grievance  into running challenges and fundraising.

St Anns cared for my mum, father in law, aunt and friends in their final days. I know St Anns hospice has touched so many people. The staff at St Anns do an amazing job. St Anns rely on raising £20,000 a day to keep the 3 hospices doors open. It's been a very difficult time due to the effects of Covid.

financial impact of Coronavirus  has left the hospice with a large unexpected funding gap of over £150,000. Nurses, doctors, clinicians, housekeepers, cooks and administration staff are working harder than ever to ensure the specialist care that our patients deserve can continue throughout this crisis.

Everyone deserves to have the best quality of life possible. St Anns Hospice aim to meet the unique physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of those with a life-limiting illness, and to help maintain their dignity. St Anns provide specialist palliative care for people with cancer and non-cancer life-limiting illnesses, at all stages of their illness.

They are not just focused on our patients either. They recognise that it’s also a difficult time for relatives, carers and friends and St Anns provide support for them, too.

St Ann’s Hospice provides care to people and their families living with a life-limiting illness in the Greater Manchester community. St Anns provide a range of free services to patients, carers and their loved ones from three sites as well supporting patients in their own homes.

I always want to give something back to St Anns. This is not a challenge I have taken lightly. I was set to run all 3 marathons back to back but unfortunately due to covid the dates have changed. 3 October back to back Marathons.

I am now running Manchester 2022 and London 2022 continuing my fundraising  into the next year,

Completed the challenge London and Manchester Marathon 6 days apart, 2 week after  'liverpool rock and roll' marathon.  The Bolton ‘back from the 80’s marathon’  dressed as a rubiks cube  has now been postponed.. Completed trimpell 20 miler and Leeds, Coniston, wilmslow and Manchester half Marathon race  as part of my training.

I'm continuing with my fundraising  by doing crazy Strava drawing challenges, scratch cards, sweet sales to support the Hospice.

Fitting  in training around family and teaching will prove challenging. I know I will have the support from family, friends, Salford Mets and B Military fit 👍🏻

Please support ST Anns Hospice at this difficult time.    Charity close to my heart ❤️
