Story

I am wanting to raise money for this charity as it means a lot to me. As in 2015 I was diagnosed with Cancer in my right eye. I had proton beam Radiotherapy but i lost the vision in the eye straight away. In 2019, I unfortunately had to have enucleation of the right eye and I lost the majority of my sight in my left eye, and I was registered partially sighted.

This is when the sight loss charities really helped. There are so many questions when you loose your sight. I was scared, vulnerable, and didn’t know were to turn. They came into my home, helped advise me on equipment in my home, helped to sort out cane training, and Counselling.

Sight loss has had a huge impact on my life, everything changes from everyday living e.g- driving, working, going outside and interacting with people.

I have met some amazing friends threw these charities that have helped me and supported me, and made me laugh on my good days and given me a hug on my bad days. It’s nice to talk to people who can relate to the same situation that your going through!

About the charity
