Friends of Ravenscliffe is a charity that supports the aims of the school as it works to meet the needs of its students. Ravenscliffe is a secondary special school, providing education for 140 students aged 11 - 19 years. The school caters for pupils with a wide range of special educational needs.

Story

Help me change lives by supporting Ravenscliffe High School.

I'm very proud to be running for the school to help them raise money towards their Community Challenge 2. This will allow the school to fully equip the newly built centre to fully cater for their students and the community. My friend and work colleague Stewart Richardson, whose son attends the school told me about the fundraising challenges the school has. These challenges are made all that more difficult as public and private finance remain tight in these continuing times of austerity. I had decided sometime ago to enter the Hardmoors 160, you need to do some preparation to complete a challenge like this! After speaking to Stewart I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to use my love of running to help make a difference.

The Hardmoors 160 is a single stage 160 mile Ultra marathon linking up the 48 mile Tabular Hills Route with the Cleveland Way. Competitors will leave the coast at the clifftops of Scalby Mills, Scarborough  run around the North York Moors returning to Scarborough again many miles later and continue to the finish at Filey.

Competitors have 50 hours to complete the 160 run route, which incorporates 7000 meters of ascent, which can be likened to climbing Ben Nevis five times. To put the challenge into focus there were only 12 finishers out of 29 starters in last years race and I am in no doubt I will be pushed to the limits both mentally and physically.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, I hope we can make a difference,

Steve
