Story
In 2020 I devised my 40 @ 40 list. It was a list of 40 random things that I had never done before but fancied doing in my 40th year. Unfortunately Covid 19 reared its ugly head and after holding a worm, naked knock-a-door-run and eating a pre packed shop brought sandwich, I quickly realised that with the continuing restrictions, most of my other ideas would be unachievable that year, so I scrapped the list. However I still wanted to do a skydive.
A few days before my birthday last April, my sister's partner, James Sheppard passed away unexpectedly from Sudden Arrythmic Death Syndrome. James was a fit and healthy 30 year old. One of the most kind, caring, thoughtful people I have had the privilege of being in my life and we all miss him dearly.
My incredibly brave sister Sophie is fundraising for the charity "Cardio Risk in the Young" Her aim is to raise £7,500 to fund cardiac screening sessions for young people in and around Sherwood in Nottingham.
(See Team James "Shep" Sheppard link above for more information)
I was going to jump out of a plane anyway, so decided that this would be a good opportunity to raise some money for this worthy cause and try to prevent and support other families from going through such a tragic experience.
I will be doing the skydive on the 15th April, just before the 1st anniversary of James passing away.
Any donations, no matter how small, are massively appreciated. And if you're lucky I may share some photos after the skydive! (James would have hated the idea, I could never even get him to join us at Alton Towers!)
Thanks for reading and thanks for your support.
