Thankyou for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.....
I am running the great north run in September to raise money for Brain Tumour research. People say you should live life to the fullest, have no regrets, make the most of it, but you never really think something will happen to you or your family that will mean you won’t get to do things or make memories with certain people, do you?
In October 2012, when my auntie Linda wasn’t well, she visited the hospital. I dont think anybody really thought it was anything serious, anything life changing, when infact, within a week, the news we received was serious, and was life changing.
My auntie Linda, the person who was like a second mam to me and my sister, the best sister and best friend to my mam, was diagnosed with a stage 4 (the most serious) Brain Tumour, a type of brain tumour that is the most common and sadly the most deadliest and we were told that it was inoperable.
Despite having small amounts a radiotherapy, the growth of the tumour was too fast, and on the 19th January 2013, just 3 months after her diagnosis, she was taken from us, much sooner than we all had thought, it was heartbreaking! Why was this happening to our family? Why wasn't there anything we could have done to save her?
This is why I am running the Great North Run to raise money for the Brain Tumour research charity, the only national charity dedicated to Brain tumours! At the moment, only 1% of funds from Cancer Research go towards Brain tumour research, but maybe with more funding and more people being aware of how little is put towards this, more can be done to find a cure, so that more families and friends dont have to go through what me and my family had to go through! If this helps one person, I will be happy, and I know my auntie will be too!
Even the smallest donation will really help and donating through JustGiving is so easy, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thankyou so much to everyone who has taken the time to read, share and donate to my chosen charity, maybe one day we can make a difference!
