I've decided to do this 10k around Glasgow as i wanted to raise a bit of money for a Charity who do extremely wonderful things and have given so many people a great deal of support when dealing with cancer themselves, or coping with cancer of a friend or loved one.

So what exactly do maggie's centres do?

They are really there for anybody who feels the need for help, which includes those who love and look after someone with cancer, who often feel as frightened and vulnerable as those who actually have the disease.

A Maggie’s Centre will be many things to many people.  It is there for anybody to use in the way they want to. There isn’t a one size fits all recipe for how you live with cancer. Everybody needs to find their own way.

So how is Maggie's different from other charities?

Maggie's is the only cancer charity that provides support –

From the moment the person affected by cancer asks for help.
On any type of cancer.
For as long as help is needed.
In support of Medical treatment.
In a domestic not a clinical setting.
For anyone affected by cancer, including family, friends and carers.
Including information provided by other cancer charities.
In a specially designed building.
In a centre conveniently close to cancer treatment centres.
Free of charge with no need for an appointment.

Why did i decide to run for Maggie's?

I decided to run for Maggie's as its a charity which has always been very close to the heart. Throughout my Mums battle with cancer she received a great deal of support from Maggie's, of which i would like to thank them for by raising as much money as i can. I know if my Mum had made it through her battle with cancer she would want to thank them also and do what she could do make sure that the loving service they offer can continue on for many years to come.

Im running on behalf of my Mum, and everyone else who has received the much needed support from Maggie's centres around the UK, as a big "thank you!" for their kindness and support.

I would love to show Maggie's just how important they really are, and would greatly appreciate any donations - no matter how small.
