St Mary’s is an ancient building and has been at the heart of Begelly and Kilgetty since the 13th Century. As a living parish church it is our privilege, responsibility and joy to be available to all those who live in the community, irrespective of whether they come to church or not. For hundreds of years we have baptised and married people within the building and members of our community have been able to bury their loved ones in the churchyard. It is our hope that this will continue into the future.

The upkeep of the church building, the churchyard and our ministry in this parish is funded locally through service collections, fees, donations and fundraising. We do not receive any funding from the government or through taxations, as in some other countries in Europe, neither do we have historic assets on which we can draw. This means that in common with many at present, it is becoming more and more difficult to make ends meet, especially as it currently costs over £500 per week just to keep the doors open.
