Story
This autumn a very special collection of unique paintings will be auctioned at the Whitworth art gallery.
The sale of the “Bee There for Maggie’s” collection by artist Justin Eagleton will raise money for Maggie’s Manchester to support people living with cancer.
The collection itself, with each piece having a unique bee themed name brings together areas of Manchester’s vibrant history, culture and community. Each piece showcases the city’s famous skyline with the iconic worker bee the main attraction. Each work of art is original and no prints will be available apart from Bee There which captures the essence and beauty of the Maggie’s Centre. Bee There will not be auctioned and instead have pride of place in the centre itself.
The remaining 9 pieces will be auctioned at an exclusive event on 10th November following a short exhibition at the gallery.
Maggie’s is a warm, welcoming place in the grounds of The Christie Hospital. The centre provides a programme of support that is proven to help people with cancer, as well as family and friends, take back control. Maggie’s expert team includes psychologists, cancer
support specialists and benefits advisors and is funded by voluntary donations.
Robin Muir, Maggie’s Manchester Centre Head, said: “We are so excited about the collection and working with The Whitworth. Art is an important part of our relaxed, uplifting environment
here at Maggie’s, and one of the ways we support people emotionally is through art therapy. So this feels a perfect way to raise funds, which will go a long way to helping people living with cancer.”
