Story
Nobody should ever go to work and not come home.
But on June 11th 2007 Bedfordshire Police officer, PC Jon Henry, attended an early morning town centre incident in Luton where he was attacked and tragically lost his life, leaving behind his wife Mary and their young daughter Maggie.
This year marks the 10 year anniversary of the awful events in Luton that shocked the Police station, town and country to the core. While some of you reading this will have had the pleasure of working with Jon, most of us will have heard stories about him, either the bravery shown on that day or more personally when we had to suffer through his daily awful jokes and puns!
This year Jon will be represented by a team of cyclists from Bedfordshire Police who will be taking part in the Unity Police Tour between 28-30 July 2017, starting from the Mall in London and covering nearly 200 miles in just 3 days, ending at the Police Arboretum in Lichfield, Staffordshire.
Jon started at Bedfordshire Police in 2004 and was a popular character not just on section, but throughout Luton Police station and Bedfordshire Police as a whole. Jon has continued to be remembered by friends and colleagues and over the years a number of charity events have been completed to raise money to support his wife Mary and daughter Maggie, and to also to keep his name alive and be remembered in the community.
Thank you so much for your support and your kind donation in memory of Jon and in support of his family and the COPS charity.
