Story
I have been fortunate enough to gain a ballot place for this year’s London Marathon on April 23rd. This has given me the opportunity to raise money for a fantastic local charity to help support the incredible work they do.
St Peter's Hospice is Bristol's ONLY adult hospice caring for local people with life-limiting illnesses. Our commitment is to improve the quality of life of patients while extending care and support to their families and loved ones. All of our care is provided free of charge, but it costs us around £20,000 a day to provide that care. For most of this money we rely on Gifts in Wills, donations, fundraising and our shops.
£15 could pay for a handheld fan which helps patients cope with breathlessness
£33 could provide an hour of care for a patient in the comfort of their own home
£123 could provide three nutritious meals a day for a patient staying on the Inpatient Unit for a whole week here
£217 = a nurse spending a night in a patient's home to relieve family members
£357 = keeps our 24 hour advice line open for a full day
£415 = 20 therapy sessions for bereaved families and children
