Story

The 22/07/2017 was just a normal day, I was on my way to work as usual when I received a call nobody wants to take. Dad had suffered a stroke and was being taken by ambulance to Royal Stoke University Hospital. My world just stopped.

The initial assessment was taken quickly and effectively, a personal favourite of mine was when he was asked to say 'baby hippopotamus', which wasn't too convincing as it came out as a bit of a drunken slur.

It was a scary time which was made better by the incredible team on the Unit, he was given an experimental drug and they constantly monitored his progress. I feel incredibly lucky that while he still has minor difficulties, he has been able to make a near full recovery.

I've always wanted to give back to the Unit that looked after my Dad so well. I currently work for this fantastic Charity and couldn't think of a better opportunity to do so at a local event I grew up with. If you are able to support me, please donate! If not, I'd love your encouragement throughout the route to get me over the finish line. Thank you so much.
