Story
This May it will have been five years since I (Becky) lost my beautiful, kind, charming and, at times, incomprehensibly irritating brother, George, to depression. That might seem like a slightly strange way to describe what happened to him but, although physically it was George's own actions that ended his life, it was his mental illness that killed him.
Anyway, I digress, to continue to celebrate my wonderful bro, make damn sure he's not forgotten about, and raise some much-needed ££££ for an incredibly worthy cause - Mind - I'll be running the Brighton Marathon on 14th April. And this time, it's not a solo venture as my fabulous compadre/noble steed, Fe, will be joining me. (This will be her first marathon and she's been training really hard even when its been pouring with rain and frosty outside!!)
It sounds hideously cliched and I'd rather not have to say it but, seriously, if between us we manage to raise a bit of money and that money stops even one person from suffering the way George did and, in turn, one family from suffering the way mine has, then getting up at the crack of a sparrows fart (to quote my mother - it means early) to run in the freezing cold every day (well, most days) will have been worth it!
I couldn't save my brother and the fact that I'll never get to give him a hug or tell him he's a big fat loser ever again really really sucks. What I can do though, is make sure that a few other beautiful souls like George, can get the help they desperately need in his name. And I know that he would have absolutely loved for that to happen as he was a big ol' gentle giant at heart.
Soooooo....... please donate a small amount (the price of your daily loose leaf matcha green chai tea latte maybe?) if you're able to, or even a MASSIVE amount if you are so inclined!?! No, but seriously, every little helps and all that.
And sorry, Fe, I've completely stolen the limelight here... It's also Fe's birthday the day after the marathon so maybe donate to make up for the world of birthday pain she's going to be in ;)
Right, that's it from me, thanks for reading and (if you do) thanks soooooooooo much for donating! It's very much appreciated :)
