Story
On the 22nd of April 2018 I will be alongside thousands of others running the London Marathon!
Running the London Marathon has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember and I feel so grateful to have received a ballot place for this years event.
Having said this, over the last few months I’ve spent a lot of time wondering why on earth anyone would put themselves through the physical and mental stress of running 26.2 miles. On those cold, dark and rainy week day evenings it has not been easy!
Alas, at Christmas I dusted off my running shoes and somehow found the motivation to start training properly. I couldn’t even run 1 mile, so 26 miles felt near to impossible. There have been lots of tears shed and even now a few days before the event I am full of so many mixed emotions.
I have chosen to represent MIND as I feel that positive mental health and strength is such an important part of every day life. Statistics show that 1 in 4 of us will be affected by mental health within our life time. Whether that be yourself directly, a family member, friend or work colleague. One of the greatest but also toughest things about life is that you never know what is around the corner. Having people to support you through life’s challenges and difficulties is so important which is why I have chosen to support MIND.
I feel very lucky to have so many supportive people in my life. I see challenge, determination and resilience in the classroom every single day. I’m sure these are qualities that will help pull me around the course on April 22nd.
I know that not every cause can be yours so please if you can’t support this charity, support a charity close to you in my honour and I’ll think of you on race day. Every donation counts 😀
Lots of love,
Becks x
