Story
Hi, I know it's christmas and you're heart may have sunk when you got a just giving email but please take 2 minutes to read this:
Robyn is 7 years old and the daughter of a family friend. In May this year she was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer and doctors found a tumour that was growing from her pelvis and had spread to her bone marrow. She underwent a nine-hour operation to remove the tumour, which left her unable to walk. She has had nine doses of chemotherapy, with radiotherapy to come. No further treatment for the condition is available in Britain.
So, with a prognosis of 40% survival, the biggest fear is a relapse after the intense, aggressive treatment that she has endured so far. Preventative antibody treatment is currently not available in the UK.
To increase her chances of survival it is crucial that she benefits from such treatment, only available in the Memorial Sloan-Kettering hospital in New York. This has to be given at the same time as the final phase of the treatment - the 140 days of Retinoic Acid - and the cost is in excess of £300,000.
I would not usually ask for sponsorship having already done the race for life and already asked some of you but i'm sure you'll agree that this is very important and I hope you can help in sponsoring me.
As part of a massive fundraising effort, I am taking part in the Santa Fun Run in Marlow on 6th December..... 5K dressed in a santa outfit! Good job Conrad is not old enough y to be embarrased yet!!
