Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So believe it or not I have decided to challenge myself this year and do a midnight trek up Ben Nevis...
Some may call me mad but I'm doing this for a charity I really believe in and is very close to my heart, as having a Grandma that suffers from dementia, I have seen the everyday struggles this can put on a family but also I have seen how it brings us all together.
Thankfully I won't have to endure this all by myself as my best friend Trudy (who roped me into this) will be climbing this very small hill with me to raise awareness and hopefully some money for this amazing charity.
What is Dementia?
Dementia describes different brain disorders that trigger a loss of brain function. These conditions are all usually progressive and eventually severe.
Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia, affecting 62 per cent of those diagnosed.
Who is affected?
There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. This will soar to 2 million by 2051.
These are just a few facts and reasons why this charity is important to us and our families but to find out more visit http://www.alzheimers.org.uk/
