We fund long-term, sustainable research to find a cure for brain tumours

Story

In june 2019 it was the week of our sons first birthday, a time that should have been filled with complete happiness, when our life's changed forever. Glenn was diagnosed with a right sided, grade 3 brain tumour. After the worst 7 hours of everyone's life Glenn was recovering from surgery where they managed to remove 80% of the tumour. For the next 7.5 weeks Glenn had radiotheraphy every single day and has been on chemotheraphy for 2 years. No matter what has been thrown at Glenn he has never once moaned or backed down from this fight, and has faced every battle with complete bravery. Before this time in our life's I had never heard of brain cancer and yet the stats speak for themselves.

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40

Over 12,000 people are diagnosed each year with a primary brain tumour, including 500 children and young people – that’s 33 people every day

Over 5,300 people lose their lives to a brain tumour each year

At least 88,000 children and adults are estimated to be living with a brain tumour in the UK currently

Brain tumours reduce life expectancy by on average 27 years – the highest of any cancer

Just 12% of adults survive for five years after diagnosis

Brain tumours are the largest cause of preventable or treatable blindness in children

Research offers the only real hope of dramatic improvements in the management and treatment of brain tumours. Over £700m is spent on cancer research in the UK every year, yet less than 3% is spent on brain tumours

Now its my turn to do a little something to give back with the help of my friend danny who is crossing the line with me.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
