Welcome to the Exeter Kilimanjaro Challenge Campaign 2021! These incredible students are taking on the challenge of a lifetime all whilst helping in the fight against meningitis and septicaemia.

Story

Back in 2019, I set my sights on climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the worlds tallest freestanding mountain, for Meningitis Research Foundation; a charity which aims to research and raise awareness of two serious diseases, Meningitis and Septicaemia. The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed this challenge back to 2022, but it hasn't stopped me trying my hardest to raise money for this vital cause. Shockingly, meningitis and neonatal sepsis are the second biggest infectious killer of children under the age of five on the planet, affecting more than 2.8 million people every year! I have run 4 half marathons, sold over £1500 worth of cake, and stood in the pouring rain dressed as a giraffe with a  bucket to raise money so far, and I'll keep doing silly things like this until I've hit my fundraising target. The targets have increased as time has gone on, and now I'm aiming to raise £4000. Its time to make meningitis a global health priority, you can do this today by donating using the give now button.

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
