There is a very special reason and a very special person that has influenced my friend, Aileen, and I to climb Ben Nevis. 2 years ago my family recieved the devestating news that my grandma had alzheimers. Alzheimers is a cruel, debilitating disease that progressively takes away the mental and physical abilities of the sufferer, until their brain no longer functions normally. My family went through months of trying different drugs to try and slow down the progression of the disease, and slowly seeing it take away more and more of the person we love. There is no cure for this wicked disease but the research cannot continue without the vital funding and support from the public. Money raised for this charity not only helps the research. It also goes towards fundamental respite for the family and sufferer. This disease is taking one of the most special people in my life away from me and this is a chance for me to help.
